To preserve natural resources, the use of renewable energy sources is increasingly popular. Moreover, many domestic equipments have made the transition and now work with them.

The Different Types of Renewable Energy

As its name indicates, a renewable energy source is in perpetual regeneration. Even when used daily, these resources are renewed more quickly than they are consumed. Moreover, some of them are inexhaustible, notably solar and wind energy. In addition to these two resources, hydraulic, geothermal, and biomass energy are also part of the renewable resources category.

– Solar energy

Solar energy is a source of energy obtained by capturing the sun’s rays through a solar panel. However, the type of installation varies depending on the intended use, knowing that a thermal panel is needed to produce hot water. In contrast, a photovoltaic panel is used to produce electricity.

– Wind energy

Wind energy is produced from the wind; that is to say, the combined action of a blade and a generator can transform wind energy into a source of electricity. Therefore, the power obtained depends on the weather conditions, especially the strength of the wind.

– Hydraulic energy

Hydraulic energy comes from the exploitation of the current. Indeed, the movements of water produce energy, which will then be transformed into a source of electricity, by mechanical action, at a power station.

Geothermal energy

Geothermal energy is obtained by exploiting the earth’s heat. The earth’s energy, stored in the rocks at depth, is captured using a heat pump. This energy is then transformed into electrical energy using a power station.

– Biomass

Biomass refers to all organic matter capable of providing a source of energy. It can be released by direct combustion, as in the case of firewood, or be derived from the transformation of the material. For example, biogas (which is close to the gas used in cooking) is produced from the fermentation of organic matter, and this process is called methanization.

Domestic Installations Running on Renewable Energy
If renewable energy sources are mainly used to produce electricity, many installations can operate independently. The solar water heater is an invention that dates back several years, various other devices have also been designed.

– The heating system

It is quite possible to equip yourself with a heating system that uses solar energy or biomass. For example, underfloor heating is a device installed in the ground to diffuse heat. Thanks to the installation of a solar plate on the roof, which will heat a tank, hot water will circulate in the pipes of the heating floor and thus increase the temperature in the house. The wood-fired boiler produces heat that is then distributed through a radiator. Indeed, wood combustion will produce enough energy to heat a fluid, whose heat will be distributed in the house.

– Small appliances

Small appliances powered by a renewable energy source work mainly with solar energy. Thanks to an integrated solar panel, they capture the energy necessary for their operation. This is particularly the case for garden lamps and watering stations. There are also versions of solar refrigerators, whose operation is the same as the devices mentioned above.

The Advantages of Using Renewable Energy in a House

The main advantage of using renewable energy is the preservation of natural resources. Moreover, they directly impact your energy consumption, knowing that these energy sources are free. All you have to do is to get the necessary equipment. The latter requires a particular investment, but the rest is practically free.

You should also know that nowadays, houses so equipped can benefit from an energy conversion bonus. Moreover, these installations can considerably increase the value of your property when you sell it.
